TIBCO iProcess Decisions is an optional component of the BPM suite that enables independent development of business rules. Built on technology from Corticon, iProcess Decisions provides a business rule development environment for “zero code” development of business rules by business people, from simple to extremely complex. Business analysts and other knowledge experts directly involved in the details of the process are the best candidates for development and ownership of supporting business rules. The separation of business rules from the process modeling application enables concurrent development of process modeling and business rules by the appropriate people for each.

The design of iProcess Decisions has other benefits, including the ability to include natural language statements as commentary to rules, 100% accurate rules (meaning the application checks rule validity and indicates when the rules conflict, or are incomplete) and a spreadsheet style interface that many find familiar and comfortable.

Business rules are easily “hooked” into a given process step through a pre-integrated option in TIBCO iProcess™ Modeler, again creating the essential bridge between different roles in the organization. In this design, business rules are essentially “decision services” that are accessible and reusable by different processes. This “service-oriented approach” to business rules provides the necessary flexibility to handle enterprise business rules needs.
